  • Website site newsletter created for interactive communication for the Learning Science Community

Technology Tips (2008-­present)

  • The website was designed to help University of Toronto instructors make better instructional use  of new technologies.
  • Each Tech Tip contains a brief video that illustrates how technology resources can be used to make  teaching more enjoyable, efficient, and educationally effective.
  • The nine videos were developed collaboratively by Jim Hewitt and Cheryl Madeira (e.g., use of  blackboard, wikies, etc.).

Editor of the Science, Mathematics and Technology Newsletter – OISE, University of Toronto (2005-­‐ 2008)

  • Design of newsletter; including writing, editing, photo work, layout and artwork.
  • Organization and coordination of the various abstracts and presentations from department. Writing newsletter information articles.
  • Assessment Review Committee (assisting with the development of policies for evaluation of program and student assessment, organization of a P.A. day, and leader of a teacher discussion group on program assessment).

Teacher Director/Chief Executive Officer – Board of Directors/Executive Board of Directors for the Mind, Media and the Message Festival (2004-­‐2008)

  • Facilitated students and teachers in leadership, organizational skills and communication skills in student-­‐directed new media festival
  • Development of the Launch of Festival at the Canadian Broadcasting Building (CBC)
  • Development of sponsorship with Royal Bank of Canada ($4500) and CBC ($6500)
  • Facilitated submissions, and judging committees for the festival
  • Coordinated and development of not-­‐for-­‐profit M3F Inc.
  • Development of Board of Directors, writing grants and financial organization
  • Oversee the functioning of the festival and all the details (fundraiser, festival, gala)
  • Coordinated teacher’s symposium (Training the Trainers Symposium-­‐ T3S); hands-­‐on technology training.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES Membership Chair, Board of Directors on Science Teachers’ Association of Ontario (STAO/APSO), (2001-­‐2005)

  • Created promotional materials/multimedia presentation
  • •Worked on membership drive
  • •Created, implemented, analyzed and prepared reports on membership survey to address the needs of membership (2000 teacher members from Elementary and Secondary panel, from all over Ontario) (2001-­‐2005)
  • Worked with membership committee on pre-­‐service presentations at Faculties of Educations across Ontario
